Coldest air of the season arriving - Savanna (2024)

WHAT WE'RE TRACKING:

• Arctic cold blast this weekend
• Generally dry through the weekend
• A flurries/snow showers into next week

PLANNING THE NEXT 24 HOURS:On Thanksgiving Day, expect partly sunny skies with high temperatures a little cool for this time of year, in the lower 30s. A few areas across southern Wisconsin will only reach the mid to upper 20s. We will have wind chills factored in all day making temperatures feel like they're actually down to the teens. By the early morning hours of Black Friday, a strong, polar cold front will usher in breezy conditions, much colder temperatures in the teens, and a few flurries. The first subzero wind chills of the season expected Friday morning for some.

EXTENDED FORECAST: High temperatures will struggle in the lower to middle 20s Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Wind chills will be factored in most if not all of the days going forward, through at least Sunday morning. Areas will feel like they are down to the single digits and likely our first subzero wind chills across southern Wisconsin during this arctic blast, if not Friday morning definitely Saturday morning. This weekend into early next week will be the coldest stretch, with highs only in the lower 20s and lows in the teens (possibly single digits for some). Other than a few small chances of flurries here and there, we're going to see mostly dry conditions through the middle of next week. Later next week, there is some indication of warming up a little closer to normal with slight chances for snow showers.
